Another goal late in the (second) half, this time from Pedro, won it for the hosts. The Spaniard scored a brilliant goal, powering the ball into the roof of the net. Castellanos missed his first career penalty, seeing his effort saved by &lt;strong&gt;Vásquez&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;strong&gt; Nuno Tavares&lt;/strong&gt;, meanwhile, recorded his fifth &lt;strong&gt;assist&lt;/strong&gt; of the season, behind only Saka in Europe’s Top-5 leagues. A consolation for Empoli is that they have scored in all of their away games so far this season. A lack of return in attack will be cause for concern for Monza; they have attempted the fewest shots in the first half of matches of any team in Europe’s Top-5 leagues this season (14). The French goalkeeper came up trumps to deny Kean from the penalty spot and, at that point in the game, AC Milan had the chance to take hold of proceedings with &lt;strong&gt;two penalties&lt;/strong&gt;. However, both &lt;strong&gt;Theo&lt;/strong&gt; and &lt;strong&gt;Abraham&lt;/strong&gt; were denied by an inspired David &lt;strong&gt;De Gea&lt;/strong&gt;, who became the &lt;strong&gt;hero &lt;/strong&gt;of the game. AC Milan did level things up thanks to &lt;strong&gt;Pulisic’s&lt;/strong&gt; brilliant volley from Theo’s cross in the 60th minute. The game seemed destined to end in a draw but Fiorentina had other ideas and regained the lead through Albert &lt;strong&gt;Gudmundsson&lt;/strong&gt;, who capitalised on a defensive error from Fonseca’s side. A final siege from the Rossoneri was not enough and the Viola held out for the victory.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;AC Milan hadn’t taken fewer than 14 points from their opening seven Serie A games since 2019/20 and the last time they conceded this many goals (nine) was in 2005/06.
